Inversion after negative adverbials
What do you remember about this?
Show explanation
When a negative adverbial begins the main clause, put the auxiliary before the subject: Never have I seen that view. Rarely do they complain. If the ordinary sentence has no auxiliary, add do, does, or did. Keep normal word order when the negative expression stays later in the sentence.
Rarely do we get a quiet afternoon.
