10 Tips to Find a Job

Here are ten tips to find your dream job.

  1. A resume that works.

  1. Prepare a resume that is company specific; be ready to prepare multiple resumes catering to different companies.

  2. The resume should have all the necessary keywords that a company looks for. Also, ensure your resume is crisp and concise. Companies receive hundreds of resumes and making yours easier to evaluate is important.

  3. Proofread your resume, ask your friends to check for errors. A resume is what you start with and a bad one gives a terrible impression.

  1. Networking.

  1. A lot of companies give immense importance to referrals. Ask your friends and family, colleagues and other people you worked with to refer you when a job opening comes up.

  2. Call up everyone you know in the industry. This will refresh their memory, as and when an opening comes up, they will remember you.

  3. Remember your alumni group? Chance is that most of them would be working in the same field as yours and hence would be able to help you out.

  4. Stay organised. You do not want to receive a call by a company and not know which one it is. Write down the names of the companies you’ve applied to, the name of the person you spoke with, and the position you applied for.
